The Variable Collimation Display (VCD) is a replacement for standard helicopter simulator chin window displays, and provides the pilot with accurate visual depth cues. The lack of accurate visual depth cues in current chin window displays render them nearly useless when training pilots in take-off, landing, and low altitude hover scenarios. The VCD integrates with existing Image Generators (IGS) using the Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI) standard and is a drop-in replacement for most collimating chin window displays.
